12:00 p.m. Mighty Musical Monday featuring the Scruffy City Orchestra Brass (LINK)
Program includes Danny Boy, Freddie Brabson on the Mighty Wurlizter Organ; and The Gate of Kiev, SCO Brass Ensemble. Brown bag lunches consisting of a sandwich, chips, and a dessert may be purchased in the lobby for $5.00 while supplies last. The Orchestra at Maryville College, under the direction of Dr. Eric Simpson, will present “Mozart Soloists." The concert will feature three soloists: Shelby Shankland, instructor of flute at MC; Meredith Simpson, instructor of horn at MC; and Haylee Wilson ’21, soprano and music education major at MC. The program will include “Andante in C Major for Flute and Orchestra, K. 315” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; “Ach ich fuhl’s” from The Magic Flute by Mozart; “Horn Concerto #4 in E flat Major, K. 495” by Mozart; “Overture to ‘Silvana,’ J. 87” by Carl Maria von Weber; Chorale Prelude on “Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme” by Johann Sebastian Bach; and “Symphony in D Major” by Giovanni Battista Sammartini.

6:00 p.m. Maryville College Invitational Choir Festival at Maryville College | Concert
The Maryville College Concert Choir will host the annual Maryville College Invitational Choir Festival, which will include choirs from area high schools and colleges. The festival will serve to increase awareness about Good Neighbors of Blount County. The mission of Good Neighbors is to help lift Blount County neighbors out of a temporary crisis and to provide resources to maintain and/or increase their ability to cope with the challenges of everyday life. The organization seeks do this in an atmosphere of love and respect, building partnerships and by advocating for social justice within Blount County. Good Neighbors is funded by local area churches, individuals, BCEAC, United Way and other civic groups. Representing Good Neighbors and serving as guest speaker at the concert will be the executive director, Rev. Lisa R. Blackwood. Donations for Good Neighbors of Blount County are greatly appreciated. In addition to the College’s Concert Choir and vocal ensemble Off Kilter, participants include choirs from Heritage High School, Powell High School, William Blount High School, Alcoa High School, Maryville High School and Pellissippi State Community College.

Arcomusical is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to spread the joy of the Afro-Brazilian musical bow known as the berimbau through the development of an innovative, excellent musical repertoire. Although the berimbau is well-known in Brazil, most people in the United States are not familiar with its elegant simplicity. Arcomusical is changing that landscape. Their concert will feature music composed both by, and specifically for, their ensemble.

This visually provocative presentation, a revival of the 2010 production, features Metropolitan Opera soprano Danielle Pastin as the betrayed Butterfly, and tenor Richard Troxell as Lt. B. F. Pinkerton, star of Frdric Mitterand’s award-winning film version of the opera.

World-renowned pianist Ching-Wen Hsiao's UT debut recital will include Prokofiev's Sonata No. 7 and compositions by Gordon Chin. 7:30 p.m. Knoxville Symphony: Grieg Piano Concerto (LINK), Performance 1 of 2
The October Masterworks program is about folk music, memory and heritage, opening with Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No. 7, composed to reflect the struggles of the Czech nation in the late 19th century.
