World-renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman performs a special concert alongside pianist Rohan DeSilva at the historic Tennessee Theatre as a continuation of the highly-acclaimed community event Violins of Hope, which was held in Knoxville in January 2019. This performance will be the capstone event of the Knoxville Violins of Hope experience. We hope you'll join us for an amazing evening in Knoxville with Mr. Perlman.

The Maryville College-Community Concert Band (MC3Band) serves a dual purpose: to provide a means of artistic expression for all its members (community, faculty, staff, and students) within the wind band medium, and to provide Maryville students with the opportunity to perform and learn within a large ensemble setting.

Sofya Gulyak's recital programs are frequently reviewed in superlatives, and her concerto appearances with major orchestras are noted in glowing terms by the world's music press. Sofya Gulyak is currently a professor of piano at the Royal College of Music in London. Her UT debut will feature works by Bach, Brahms, Chopin, Rachmaninov, and Prokofiev. Sandra G. The Maryville College Concert Choir, directed by Stacey Wilner, will perform selections from its upcoming Scotland tour in May 2020. This concert will serve as a fundraiser for the choir tour.

Abbie Conant is former Principal Trombone of the Munich Philharmonic and Professor of Trombone at the Staatliche Hochschule fuer Musik in Trossingen, Germany. Her experiences with egregious sexism in the Munich Philharmonic inspired Malcom Gladwell's book Blink and comprise its final chapter. Her recital performance at UT is a fitting marker of Women's History Month and is free and open to the public.

The AA5 spring series begins with the premier performance of the 5th annual week-end long Women in Jazz Jam Festival, coordinated by Kelle Jolly. The Women in Jazz Jam Festival Band is a marvelous ensemble lead by women musicians who perform with the love of jazz in their hearts and the joy of life on their faces. Featured in the group are some of Knoxville’s local favorites as well as some rising stars. Their performance will include music written by and/or made famous by women performers, as well as some original music. Get ready to join the band on the dance floor or just “Sing Something” with the Women in Jazz Jam Festival Band! In October 2009, Matascik released her first solo guitar CD, At the End of the Day, a collection of guitar compositions that celebrate classical, contemporary folk, Appalachian, jazz and Celtic styles. Composed of guitarist Meng Su and Yameng Wang, the Beijing Guitar Duo has performed throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. This past season took them to countries such as Germany, Russia, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Poland, China, Panama, and the United States. The duo has toured extensively with their mentor Manuel Barrueco, appearing in such countries as Germany, Finland, Spain, Russia, as well as the United States.

The Orchestra at Maryville College, under the direction of Dr. Eric Simpson, will present “Mozart Soloists." The concert will feature three soloists: Shelby Shankland, instructor of flute at MC; Meredith Simpson, instructor of horn at MC; and Haylee Wilson ’21, soprano and music education major at MC. 6:00 p.m. Maryville College Invitational Choir Festival at Maryville College | Concert
The Maryville College Concert Choir will host the annual Maryville College Invitational Choir Festival, which will include choirs from area high schools and colleges. The festival will serve to increase awareness about Good Neighbors of Blount County. The mission of Good Neighbors is to help lift Blount County neighbors out of a temporary crisis and to provide resources to maintain and/or increase their ability to cope with the challenges of everyday life. The organization seeks do this in an atmosphere of love and respect, building partnerships and by advocating for social justice within Blount County. Good Neighbors is funded by local area churches, individuals, BCEAC, United Way and other civic groups. Representing Good Neighbors and serving as guest speaker at the concert will be the executive director, Rev. Lisa R. Blackwood. Donations for Good Neighbors of Blount County are greatly appreciated. In addition to the College’s Concert Choir and vocal ensemble Off Kilter, participants include choirs from Heritage High School, Powell High School, William Blount High School, Alcoa High School, Maryville High School and Pellissippi State Community College.
