The first half of the recital features a chamber steel band led by Morgan, followed by a recording of Samba
rhythms from Brazil. The second half features a collection of vignettes on marimba, an improvisatory set using a hybrid drum set, and a percussion ensemble piece.

Winners of the Beverly Hills National Auditions, YuEun Kim and Ines Thomé met in 2013 when they both had just moved to the U.S., YuEun from Korea and Ines from Germany. Ms. Kim, a violinist, has won top prizes at the Korean Times Music Competition, Kumho Art Hall Recital Series Competition, Sungjung Competition, Music Education News Concours, and the Seoul High Schools Chamber Music Competition. Ines Thomé, a multi-instrumentalist in many different styles, plays electric guitar, lute, theorbo, baroque guitar, banjo, and mandolin.

7:30 p.m. Clayton Center Presents Dallas String Quartet - DSQ Electric
Dallas String Quartet is where Bach meets Bon Jovi. Dallas String Quartet- DSQ Electric is an international music sensation. Their music is a fusion of classical and contemporary music on both traditional and electric strings. As a result, with the 2016 release of their fourth album “DSQ”, they continue to expand their passionate following on Pandora, Spotify, and Sirius XM radio. Additionally, DSQ performs as a quartet with the full accompaniment of drums and guitar.

7:30 p.m. ORCMA (LINK) Coffee Concert: Emi Kagawa plays Frederico Mompou and Fazil Say
A winner of numerous national and international competitions, Ms. Kagawa has performed at the Weill Recital Hall, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, the Trinity Church concert series, Steinway Hall, and the Symphony Space. She is a past winner of the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition at Juilliard. Ms. Kagawa was also awarded first prize at the Nancy Clark International Piano Competition, second prize at the Frinna Awerbuch International Piano Competition, and third prize at both the Virginia Waring International Piano Competition and the Corpus Christi International Piano Competition. She was featured on the McGraw-Hill Companies’ Young Artists Showcase series (broadcast on the New York Times’ classical music station WQXR), and has also performed on WITF (PBS member station for central Pennsylvania).

Friday, October 11

6:00 p.m. Alive After Five with Crawlspace (LINK)
Crawlspace is the most recent project of veteran Blues rocker and harmonica wizard, Michael “Crawdaddy” Crawley, a mainstay of the Knoxville music scene for more than two decades, as the leader of Crawdaddy and The Macdaddies and also playing with International Blues Challenge semi-finalists, Jenna & Her Cool Friends. After Jenna Jefferson retired from the music scene to spend more time with her family, Crawley assembled a new group with Cool Friends members and some others, and Crawlspace was born. With Kevin Redding on drums, Ben Maney and Stevie Jones on keyboards, Bob Goodson on guitar, Aram Takvoryan on bass, and Michael Crawley on harmonica and vocals, there is enough talent and synergy that one might say the sky is the limit for Crawlspace! Food available from Rocky’s Jamaica Sunrise.

This spring they will appear as ensemble-in-residence at the inaugural Music in Bloom Festival in Bloomington, Indiana.

The University of Kentucky Faculty Jazztet includes Professor Miles Osland (woodwinds), Bradley Kerns (trombone), Raleigh Dailey (piano), Danny Cecil (bass), and Paul Deatherage (drums). The jazztet's music is an update of the jazz tradition with influences ranging from jazz fusion to free improvisation. The group plays original music, as well as reinventions of classic jazz material.

The Women in Jazz Jam Festival Band is a collective lead by women musicians who perform with the love of jazz in their hearts and the joy of life on their faces. Featured in the group are some of Knoxville’s local favorites, as well as, rising stars.
