Alexander Lapins, tuba faculty member at the University of Tennessee, and Paul Lee, piano faculty member at Western Alabama University, will present a recital of music for solo piano, tuba and euphonium.

7:30 p.m. Knoxville Symphony presents Opening Night: The Planets, Performance 1 of 2 (LINK)
The Knoxville Symphony opens its 84th season by taking to the stars, in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing. Audiences will instantly recognize Johann Strauss, Jr.'s 'On The Beautiful Blue Danube' from the film “2001: A Space Odyssey” and Debussy’s 'Clair de lune,' plus contemporary composer Missy Mazzoli’s “These Worlds in Us,” inspired by James Tate’s poem, “The Lost Pilot.” Gustav Holst's iconic, celestial showpiece, "The Planets", will include visual accompaniment featuring spectacular NASA media and original animations by visual artist Adrian Wyard cued live to follow the evening's performance.

Guitarist extraordinaire Russell Malone brings his globe-trotting quartet to Live at Lucille's for a special, one-night only performance. His quartet is among the finest working ensembles in jazz today, effortlessly gliding between old school pop, original jazz, spirituals and down-home blues.

5:30 p.m. UT School of Music (LINK) Graduate recital - A Night at the Movies: Logan Campbell, Conducting
Appalachia: A Southeastern Wind Symphony returns to Knoxville to present their first concert of the 2019-2020 season, A Night at the Movies, featuring music by John Williams, James Horner, Alan Menken, and more! Guest soloist, Holly Tumblin, will play clarinet with the ensemble as well. Under the baton of Logan Campbell, a UT 2nd year masters student, the group is excited to present this thrilling concert.
