Mom’s Wedding Rings

Skull/Skeleton Rings

Old Pics
These are my very favorite rings. You’ll probably notice a theme—intricate designs. Don’t get me wrong—I also love a minimal ring that’s perfect for stacking. But I equally enjoy a patterned band or a particularly ornate gallery! Click any image to enlarge.
My mom surprised me with this ring from Silpada 5-6 years ago and I LOVE the gallery on it!!!
You can tell I’ve worn it a lot because of the wear on the intricate band design (or maybe it’s a reflection of quality?).
I’ve no idea what this stone is. I think they said Swarovski?
LOOK AT THAT GALLERY!!!!
Found this peridot ring on Mercari super cheap. We’re talking like…$7.
Figured it couldn’t be sterling silver (because of the price) but it looks like it is!
My dad surprised me with this…3 years ago, I think? I loooooove that band.
He asked what size ring I wore and I said 8…hence the sizer on the back, LOL! It probably didn’t come in a half size anyway.
Those are reportedly blue diamonds, which I didn’t know existed until I got this ring, haha!
I love ALL of Simon’s architectural shots, but I feel like this one fits the aesthetic I’m going for with the ring.
I had already put my lightbox away when the skull/skeleton idea hit me. But I LOVE this ring. From Amazon, most likely.
Think I got these at Michael’s or Joann. Added them to my work keys cuz they make me happy.
Custom Order Questions
Do you have a budget?
Not really. I mean, I'm not rich, but I'm willing to put a good chunk of $$ toward this. And I don't even know how to give a range of what I'm thinking, as I'm clueless about how much the different materials will cost (plus time and labor and whatnot!).
What type of jewelry do you have in mind? (ex. earrings, bracelet, ring)
I definitely want a ring.
Ring size (if interested in ring)?
Most likely 7.5 (ring finger) or 8.5 (middle finger).
What metal are you interested in?
I want more gold jewelry in my collection, but I think the diamond I'd like will look better with silver (or white gold). My default metal is sterling silver because it's pretty and more affordable!
Are you interested in including gemstones in your custom piece?
Yep!
What gemstones? If you are unsure of stone names you can list colors you are looking for or birth month if you would like birthstones.
A salt and pepper diamond (and possibly the diamond from my mom's wedding band? See below). I was thinking one that looks gray/silver, like it has an explosion of aluminum foil inside it. But I'm very open to colors (faves are red and blue). I just want the inside to look super cool! Also, I'm always looking to add more peridot or carnelian jewelry to my collection but I don't wanna 1) clutter this ring and 2) keep adding to the price, LOL!
Do you have a gemstone cut preference? Rose cut or faceted.
I read up on rose cut and I saw that most s&p diamonds are rose cut so that the inclusions are highlighted, but I'm open to suggestions!
Do you have a gemstone shape preference? Ex. round, pear, oval, rectangle, square, kite.
I prefer equilateral shapes, so probably nothing long like a kite. I also prefer rounded shapes, so no square or rectangle. I guess that leaves round, pear, and oval! (But if we find a diamond that doesn't fit the criteria and is GORGEOUS, I'm open to it)
What style do you gravitate toward? ex. romantic, minimal, bold.
I like minimal, but I also like intricate stuff. I’m thinking the latter for this ring: elegant, ornate, but not too delicate (as I am a klutz and have several bent rings *cringe*).
Do you wish to include any sentimental details?
Well, I'm not sure yet. My parents are divorced and, at one time, my mom offered me her wedding rings. I think it has a single diamond (no idea of cut or shape, sorry!). The two are soldered together. Could they be included somehow? Could any of the band/metal (I think it's white gold) be recycled? I just confirmed she still has them, so I'll be able to send pics and give measurements soon.
Do you have any reference images for the style or design of your custom jewelry? If so please attach to email. These images can be of jewelry, shapes, architecture, fashion, nature anything that embodies the feel you would like to have.
See above! :)
Any other details you would like me to know?
I want it to be low-profile (because klutz…things catch on other things). I prefer a cathedral head to a pronged one, but I think that stone choice might play a role in that? I LOVE ornate bands. And, though I'd like the stone to be low profile, I'm a sucker for a fancy gallery (see some of my ring pics). OMG I just had a crazy idea--a skull with one s&p diamond as an eye and my mom's diamond as the other eye. Is that crazy? That's crazy. (I love skulls/skeletons)
